AIoD and AMX Partner to Advance Corporate Governance in Armenia

The Armenian Institute of Directors (AIoD) and the Armenia Stock Exchange (AMX) have established a new partnership to strengthen the local financial and corporate ecosystem. The two organizations have formalized their cooperation through a Memorandum of Understanding. The document represents a strategic agreement between AMX, represented by CEO Hayk Yeganyan, and AIoD, represented by CEO Armenuhy Hovakimyan.

The partnership aims to increase the efficiency of Board operations and facilitate the successful implementation of the new Corporate Governance Code's requirements.

According to the memorandum, the cooperation will focus on several key initiatives:

  • Educational Programs: Developing and implementing joint seminars, training sessions, and continuous educational programs. These programs are specifically targeted at board members, executives, corporate secretaries, and lawyers of companies that are listed or preparing to list on the exchange, as well as relevant AMX staff.

  • Awareness and Best Practices: Raising awareness among companies regarding corporate governance principles, effective board operations, information disclosure, and investor communication to strengthen overall market trust.

  • Professional Development: Fostering the professional potential of independent directors and board members. The organizations will support companies in attracting qualified candidates to promote board independence, diversity, and professional quality.

  • Research and Policy: Studying the corporate governance practices of listed companies to identify trends and areas for improvement. The parties will also collaborate on policy dialogue and recommendations regarding regulatory initiatives, ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance), sustainability reporting, and capital market development.
